　Joni Mitchell的"Big Yellow Taxi"是首傳唱度相當高的單曲

收錄在她1970年專輯"Ladies Of The Canyon"中

初聽"Big Yellow Taxi"就被吸引住了，這首曲調輕快的民謠

順耳耐聽令人想跟著一起哼唱，尚未仔細看過歌詞前，以為是首俏皮快樂的歌

但是實際上並非如此。

 

　　仔細看看歌詞其實會發現，這首歌傳達出的是對於週遭事物一連串的無奈

『在天堂裡擺了個停車場的無奈』、『砍了原本不屬於任何人的樹放進博物館

搞的人們還需要付費才能欣賞的無奈』、『為了讓人吃到沒有蟲蛀的蘋果

卻害死了鳥兒與蜜蜂的無奈......』。

gone."（事情不總是這樣的,直到失去後才知道曾經擁有）

從一開始筆者就誤會Joni了

原來她只是透過詼諧的編曲，把一種莫可奈何的心境表達出來罷了

『直到失去，才知曾經擁有』是反思的作品，也是反省的結果。

　　
當年Joni會寫出這首歌，是她第一次到夏威夷時，清晨打開窗戶

從飯店房間望出去欣賞一片碧海藍天的風景

卻發現旁邊怎麼有個剎風景的停車場 ,有感而發的作品

當時她寫下了"The paved paradise and put up a parking lot"，

在參觀完夏威夷島後，順利完成這支單曲。
